What is YÖS

The (YÖS) exam is short for the phrase (Yabancı Uyruklu Öğrenci Sınavı), meaning the foreign student exam, and it is a special test for Turkey that began ten years ago, meaning that it is a local exam that is not recognized outside the Turkish state.

Most Turkish universities adopt it to select students who have other than Turkish citizenship.

Who can apply for YÖS test ?

  • Everyone who wants to study in prestigious government universities in Turkey is foreign students and Turkish students who have completed their studies in high schools of foreign countries.

How Is This YÖS Exam?

The YÖS test consists of math questions, often eighty questions, in addition to logic and intelligence questions, which are often forty questions, in addition to engineering subjects, and there is no fixed distribution of questions, as this differs from one university to another.

Each university has its own questions, and there are some Turkish universities that only require the Yös from their universities.

It takes three to five months to prepare for this test.

The Yös exam is in several languages, including Arabic.

Registration in Elios is from February or March until June, and the exam date for each university is reported through its official website, and generally, the first examination begins in May and continues until August.

The cost of the YÖS exam is one hundred Turkish liras, and payment is made by bank transfer to the university’s official account.

The student has the right to re-enter the exam without a number.They can also register for more than one exam and more than one university.

How I Can Study To YÖS

There are several books for YÖS, each subject has its own book, there are two books for mathematics, two books for the intelligence department, a book for the engineering department, two books for questions of previous years, and all the books are issued by the Turkish company Metropole.

It takes three to five months to prepare for this test.

What Is SAT ?

The SAT is an abbreviation for the Scholastic Assessment Test, and it can be said that it is a proficiency test for admission to universities and higher education institutions in the United States of America.

This exam measures the readiness of high school students to join the university, as it provides different colleges and universities with unified data for comparison between applicants, in addition to reviewing their high school results, letters of recommendation, their CVs and their motivation letters, and then coming up with a final decision about whether or not they will be accepted.

What is the difference between SAT 1 and SAT 2

It is the general and customary test, which is required in Turkish universities, and its duration is three and a half hours.

What are the sections of the SAT 1 exam?

1- (Mathematics Section): It includes simple and somewhat easy subjects compared to the curricula of most general secondary schools

It consists of 44 choice questions (circle) and 10 direct solution questions. The questions include four axes:

  • Numbers and operations
  • Algebra and Functions
  • Geomerty and measurement
  • Data analysis, statistics and probability

2 – (Critical Reading Section): The questions in these tests vary, but they focus on testing students’ vocabulary, their ability to understand the syntax of the sentence, and the essay pieces. There are books that contain the most common vocabulary in this test, including the list of the 3500 most common words and there is also a list of 1000 words.

3 – Writing Section: There are two types of questions in this section:
Selection questions (circle) in which the student must recognize the error in the sentence given to him, and correct it as this exam tests the student’s knowledge of English grammar.

The other section is 25 minutes long, which is writing an Essay , and the student is often asked to express his opinion on a specific issue, which is not mandatory in the exam, so the student will have the choice to include the essay in the test while registering for the test on the website and has a degree independent of the degree of writing.

It is the advanced test specialized in a specific subject out of a total of 19 majors.

Test Subjects: Physics, Chemistry, MATH1, MATH2, Biology.

It is worth noting that universities in Turkey accept students according to the SAT 1 exam, while American universities and the rest of the world accept students on the basis of SAT2

Do I apply for the YÖS or SAT test?

It is up to the student himself, if he is strong in the English language, then SAT is better, just as the number of universities that accept YÖS is more than universities that accept SAT in Turkey, and the SAT is international and YÖS is local, and YouTube channels and centers that teach YÖS are many.
